Madonna Won't Get an Oscar Nomination for Best Original Song

Life is a mystery ... and so is awards season. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced 39 songs eligible for nomination in the Best Original Song category at the 84th annual Academy Awards in February, and Madonna's latest track isn't among them. Madge, who directed the upcoming romance 'W.E.' and also wrote the song "Masterpiece" for its soundtrack, received a Golden Globe nomination for the tune last week; unfortunately, her charms were lost on the Academy. (Either that, or AMPAS isn't as prone to star-gazing as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.) While Madonna will stay home on Feb. 26, many other songs will be eligible for a nomination, including three tracks from 'The Muppets,' the Mary J. Blige tune from 'The Help' and the Jonsi song "Gathering Stones" from the 'We Bought a Zoo' soundtrack. Full list ahead.
